Updated 2024

New years message from the chair. 2020

This is our 5th year in control of EpilepsySussex ,

Sorry to say we have had a disappointing year in 2019,

Back In 2018 there were 68 registered epilepsy charities, by the end of 2019, 41 have been removed or stopped due to a lack of funding or no volunteers only 24 remain which 2 are overdue , 3 are linked, this makes us & you very lucky people to have this charity....

With new executive officers in 2015 we have transformed this charity and are now fighting epilepsy with a great reputation, this was only possible with a dedicated team at the beginning 2019,

Sadly at the end of 2019 some of our dedicated team left due to the heavy and very trying work, 2 others were asked to leave the charity

So YES some new volunteers would be awesome without your help we cannot carry on .

Back on a positive note thank you to the Epilepsy consultants / specialists / doctors / nurses in Hastings/ Brighton/ Worthing / Hayward's heath/ and many more around Sussex.

Also thank you to the retail stores and supermarkets who have supported us, The Coop , Waitrose, Tesco, Paperchase , Morisson, to name a few

Also to the many businesses who have giving the group free tickets to events and supported us, John Jackson Trust , British Airways, Barclays Bank, The Beacon, Brighton Greyhound Stadium, Hickstead Jumping Course, to name a few

And to all the people who believe in us as an epilepsy group thank you .

To the people who have funded us, raised money for us, and donated money a big thank you.

Our media pages are very popular with 3 Facebook pages, and a website running , which has been said to be an all-in-one epilepsy website and still improved every day. sadly our twitter page will close.

Our coffee meetings are always popular, getting to places like Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings, Brighton in 2019, We are looking to get to Heathfield, Lewes, Seaford, Haywards Heath in 2020 as well depending on time and other commitment's.

The new name is popular as this has helped spread our services throughout Sussex and hopefully gain us a few more volunteers.

We our also giving back to the community in safety aids / bed monitors / I D bands / Key safes / Pulse oximeters / CCTV, Ant-pillows,Bracelets, Pendants, Sunflower Scheme

The year 2019 was a busy year , spending was on Free equipment/ bulk merchandise all bought from a very limited fund, but we did under spend by £700 and was in credit from 2018 and we still maintain a healthy credit going into 2020, Our financial summary figures for the year ending 31/12/2019 can be viewed on the charity commission website over the next few weeks,

Last year 2019 was busy for us with doing events , bucket collections, ,and a load more epilepsy talks.,

This year 2020 we are looking to buy more free items to give back to the Sussex community , give more talks and give you lucky people even more safety aids.

2020 brings another new competition ,to enter simply purchase a EpilepsySussex hat or beanie, for more details go to our website. www.EpilepsySussex.com, the winner for 2019 can be seen on our website

We are looking to expand further throughout Sussex this year in events and buckets, so hopefully you'll see us in your town.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out throughout the Sussex area, we can offer first aid training, Seizure training, information training, we also give you a smart uniform, all food and drinks while at events, free travel to events when needed, plus a load of fun.

If you've got a few hours a month to help on our stalls, or giving information out or even doing bucket collections or maybe having a coffee meeting where you are able to raise funds.

Once again without your help we cannot carry on .

Please email us I am sure we can arrange an hour or two somewhere for you. It's great to meet new friends and have some fun so give it go and get involved.

Hope to see you soon .
